Gumbo Filé Powder

Flavoring and thickening powder for your favorite gumbo recipe. Filé powder is also used both as a seasoning and thickening agent for sauces and gravies. Be careful to only use gumbo filé after your dish has been removed from heat for proper thickening, as you run the risk of it becoming stringy once cooked. Made from powdered, dried leaves of the sassafras tree.
